What is Numeracy?
Numeracy involves a mastery of the basic symbols and processes of arithmetic
including:
- Numbers
- Addition
- Subtraction
- Simple multiplication
- Simple division
- Simple weights and measures
- Money counting
- Telling time
These skills allow the individual to use mathematics at a level necessary
to function and progress at work and in society in general.
In order to accomplish these minimal requirements, it is necessary to
be able to read numbers and be able to use basic computational skills.
Some definitions tie in numeracy levels with literacy.
