Deborah Chesnie Cooper, Ph.D.

Dr. Deborah Chesnie Cooper, an educational and child psychologist, has been
in private practice since 1972.
Dr. Cooper received her Doctorate in 1976 through the University of Toronto
and has been a registered psychologist since 1978. Between 1985 and 1989 she
served as Psychological Consultant to the Neonatal Follow-up Unit,
Department of Paediatrics, at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, at which time she
developed an extensive diagnostic battery of tests to determine infants at risk
for later language delay. From 1982 to 1995 she was the co-director of
Canadian Heritage School, a school specializing in helping children with
learning disabilities.

Dr. Cooper has more than 50,000 hours experience working directly with
children and adolescents who were experiencing learning, emotional or
behavioural problems. During this time, she began specializing in the treatment
of auditory processing and attentional disorders. She discovered that these
difficulties were often underlying causes of problems with reading, language,
or other academic difficulties. As a result, Dr. Cooper developed a number of
programs to address these areas.
